Dozens of Member Companies Set to Show Solutions for Smart Cities
WHAT: The ZigBee Alliance, a non-profit association of companies creating open, global standards that define the Internet of Things (IoT) for use in consumer, commercial and industrial applications, is proud to have dozens of member companies participating in DistribuTECH 2016. The products and solutions showcased at the event support the development of low-power, highly reliable and secure wireless communications products for applications including utilities, smart girds, street lighting, city-side sensor networks, and traffic and parking control. ZigBee Alliance solutions help communities worldwide address today’s energy and resource challenges.

Digi International – (Booth 1025) Digi is a leading provider of ZigBee embedded wireless modules and gateway solutions. The company will be showing its newly updated ZigBee through-hole module, award-winning XBee® ZigBee Cloud Kit, and newly released XBee® ZigBee Mesh Kit. Rainforest Automation – (Booth 727) This industry leader helps utilities and their customers manage energy in real time by integrating the Internet of Things into the Smart Grid edge. ZigBee Smart Energy monitoring products that have been deployed at utilities across the country will be on display, including the EMU-2™ In-Home Display, which provides real-time feedback for energy users, and has been proven to motivate them to reduce their consumption. The EAGLE™ Energy Gateway will also be featured. It provides real-time feedback on smartphones and tablets, as well as streaming live smart meter data to the cloud.
Rainforest will also be announcing its new portfolio of Demand Response products, including the new EAGLE-200™ Control Gateway, User Control Portal and apps, Device Management service, and other Cloud Services.

ZigBee Alliance executives will discuss the organization’s recently announced technical cooperation agreement with the EnOcean Alliance, collaboration with the Thread Group on an end-to-end solution for IP-based IoT networks, and its recently ratified ZigBee 3.0 specification designed to unify IoT standards so it is easier to develop and market interoperable products and solutions to fuel innovation and enable surprising new capabilities in the home, workplace and cities.
