Davis, Calif. – September 16, 2015 – The ZigBee Alliance, a non-profit association of organizations creating open, global standards that define the Internet of Things for use in consumer, commercial and industrial applications, today announced the recent launch of the ZigBee Member Group China.

Due to the rapidly growing IoT market in China as well as the rising number of China-based member companies, the Alliance established this group to further promote ZigBee standards in China and throughout Asia. The ZigBee Member Group China is led by Wilma Su of Philips China, first chair, and Hong KOU宏寇 of CESI, Secretary General. The group works on market education programs, communicating Chinese market requirements to the global ZigBee community, hosting technical fairs for companies interested in using ZigBee for the Internet of Things, and supporting other Alliance marketing activities.

“The Chinese market is quickly adopting ZigBee standards,” said Wilma Su, co-chair of the ZigBee Member Group China. “Having a member group in China has helped us tailor the Alliance’s marketing approach to our specific cultural and linguistic needs. We are pleased with the success we’ve seen in the few short months we have been established, and are anticipating continued growth in the coming years.”

The ZigBee Member Group China currently has 8 participating member companies including Atmel, CESI, Intercel, NXP, Philips, TI, TracGlobal, TUV, and Wulian This group has been active in a number of tradeshows and events since its inception, and the members are a key piece in the planning and execution of the upcoming ZigBee Alliance Member Meeting in Nanjing, China.

“As a global organization, we are constantly taking steps to strengthen our presence around the world,” said Tobin Richardson, President and CEO of the ZigBee Alliance. “China is one of many expanding markets where we are working to better serve our members by growing along with the success of the IoT.
