The utility business model is facing a period of profound transformation. Changing demand patterns, the rise of renewables, and broader improvements in energy efficiency together present a significant threat to many utilities. Meanwhile, a host of other groups could further disrupt the market and carve out their own piece of energy revenues. There is a danger that utilities will bear most of the costs of this transition but capture few of the benefits. However, the future is not set. Utilities may still be uniquely positioned within the energy system to capitalise on emerging opportunities in solar PV, energy storage and home energy services.
This two day, invitation-only forum will bring together thought leaders from utilities, technology companies, regulators, and policy makers across Europe to discuss the future of the utility business model, strategies for success, and the implications for the wider energy system.
