Certification Process  

The pre-requisite for ZigBee Certification is ZigBee Membership. The following steps outline the ZigBee Certification Process (refer to the Certification Policy for more detail) :

  1. Join the ZigBee Alliance
    To join the ZigBee Alliance,
    - Execute membership agreement
    - Pay annual membership dues (Participant level - $9,500 or Adopter level - $3,500)
  2. Apply for Certification
    Member company applies for ZigBee Alliance certification. Learn the compliance program requirements for certification by reviewing policy, procedures and agreement guide.

  3. Submit Product(s) to Test Provider
    Member company submits the product(s) to their choice of designated test providers. Product test suites have 2 roles: 1) help developers to ensure products meet specifications, 2) ensure that only eligible products are compliant.

  4. Test Provider Notifies ZigBee Alliance of Successful Completion
    ZigBee Alliance Certification Body receives notification from the test provider upon successful completion of certification test. Notification process does not include test results or confidential information, only a general "pass" statement.
  5. Member Company Provides Appropriate Paperwork
    Member company provides the appropriate paperwork to the Certification Body (as defined in the application process).

  6. ZigBee Management Firm Confirms Membership
    ZigBee Management Firm confirms the membership status as "member in good standing" with all dues and fees paid for the Member.
  7. ZigBee Alliance Review and Approval
    ZigBee Alliance receives the lab test results, conducts a review within 5 business days, approves the cost and provides logo usage rights to the submitter company.
  8. Audit
    ZigBee will check to ensure the submitted certification information (applications, Conformance Statement and test results) shows that the product meets the requirements.
  9. Notification & Publication of Certification
    ZigBee will notify Member of the audit result:
    - If the results are successful, ZigBee will issue a certificate and enter the product into the register of certified products
    - If the audit indicates that the results are not met, ZigBee will reject the application and report the discrepancies with the conformance requirements. Member may make corrections and re-apply.
  10. Certification Logo
    The ZigBee Certified Product Logo may be applied to a product after a member company successfully completes Certification for end products. Only end products may bear this logo. Logo and Trademark Policy.
