ZIGBEE RECOGNITION

 Initiative. The ZigBee Alliance was presented the Initiative Award for their promotion of the ZigBee wireless technology. As a global open standard, ZigBee is paving the way for dramatically different devices to communicate for the first time, while offering more control and convenience options than ever before. This year, the ZigBee Alliance began a new initiative to provide solutions for energy management and efficiency by addressing growing concern around the environment and predicted energy shortages. Numerous states and countries are pushing ultra-efficient new homes and buildings, and only ZigBee addresses such a broad challenge.

AlertMe wins Best Cleantech/Environmental Startup award at the Techcrunch Europas – July 2009. AlertMe scooped Best Cleantech/ Environmental Startup Award at the TechCrunch Europas, which were held in London on July 9th. AlertMe was picked from a huge number of European companies on CrunchBase, the free database of companies and investors run by TechCrunch, and then shortlisted after a public online vote. The shortlist of 5 companies in the Best Cleantech/ Environmental Startup were then judged by a panel of 19 judges and the winner was picked. read full article.

AlertMe named one of the Most Promising Cleantech Companies in Europe – June 2009. On June 17, AlertMe was named one of the most promising Cleantech Companies in Europe at the European Tech Tour's inaugural Cleantech Summit 2009, held in Geneva. The summit showcased 24 leading European start-up and early stage cleantech companies. The top-24 companies were selected by a committee composed of experienced cleantech investors and professionals across Europe. The Summit's aim was to support the development of start-ups developing products and services that will have a strong influence on combating climate change and alleviating the environmental impact of business. Cleantech is currently the subject of intense political and social interest and is one of the fastest growing investment markets. read full article.

AlertMe Wins at the Design Week Awards – February 2009. This week, AlertMe scooped the joint first prize in the Design Week Awards’ Consumer Product Design category alongside Apple’s MacBook Air, in recognition of the unique design of its wireless Home Monitoring and Security service. Commenting on the decision to attribute the Design Week award to AlertMe, one of the judges said: “Wow! We have been waiting for something like this to be designed. It has a genius quality, is a brilliant idea and has a friendly interface.” read full article.

AlertMe Wins the Shell Springboard Final – February 2009. AlertMe was named joint-winner of the Shell Springboard Southern Final among a high quality field of competitors. Shell Springboard is a programme run by Royal Dutch Shell Plc that provides a financial boost to innovative, low carbon business ideas from across the UK. The idea behind the programme is that the business response to climate change should not be all about compliance and cost. There is a huge business opportunity if society is to move from a carbon-constrained world. read full article.

Kwikset’s SmartCode with Home Connect Technology recently won 2 awards. The first is the CE Pro Best Award for the Integrated Security System/Module/Device category. The Inaugural CE Pro BEST Awards recognize the industry’s most noteworthy new products and technologies for the year. Held in conjunction with EHX Fall 2007, the 2007 Multi-Room Awards recognized significant contributions to the multi-room audio, video and lighting markets based on innovation and achievements in design and engineering. The Colorado vNet Wireless Lighting & Control System received the Multi-Room Award for Best Retrofit Lighting Control System-that which includes one or more keypads or touch panel interfaces allowing users the ability to toggle power to lights and fans, dim lights, and program lighting levels. read full article.

Daintree's Sensor Network Analyzer has been named one of Australia's 100 most innovative products in one of the largest innovation awards of its kind in Australia—the "Smart 100" index. The Smart 100 index was born when Australian Anthill Magazine teamed up with market research firm Colmar Brunton and 1600 "maven" judges to identify 100 of Australia's most promising product innovations in a process that spanned over six months and reviewed 861 entered products. The aim of the Smart 100 is to bring a greater commercial focus to the concept of innovation, and return ownership of the principles surrounding this important word to the private sector. read full article.

In June 2009, Ember announced it was selected in the "Best of" category for the 2009 MITX Technology Awards for the company’s impact on the Smart Energy sector. The annual awards program recognizes achievements in the development and implementation of innovative technologies. Winners were announced in ten categories, as well as several “Best of” awards and the new PricewaterCoopers Promise Awards, at a sold out ceremony attended by more than 350 industry professionals. Energy Aware Technology received the 2009 BC Technology Impact award for the "Most Promising Start-Up" from the BC Technology Industry Association (BCTIA). The BCTIA is British Columbia’s leading member-based industry association that represents technology companies across the province. Energy Aware's flagship product, the PowerTab, is a ZigBee Smart Energy certified in home display (IHD) that will be included in all units of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics Athlete's village. MeshNetics was recognized with the “Excellence in Technology Award in the field of wireless sensor network (WSN) solutions based on ZigBee” award for providing state-of-the-art capabilities that enable the convergence of building automation subsystems such as lighting, HVAC, and security into one interoperable ecosystem. Currently there are hundreds of thousands, even millions of disconnected devices that perform daily functions invisible to people—such as metering and sensor devices taking measurements, industrial and access controls. Siemens Corporation Wins Silver. The Product of the Year Awards were established to present Consulting-Specifying Engineer readers with the top new products in the major MEP engineering system disciplines. Through a two-part process, entries were screened by a panel of engineers and the finalists were presented in the Specifier’s Guide mailed with the May 2008 issue.
